- Bra! Vi är mycket nöjda med mötet. Vi fick en konstruktiv och konkret debatt om vad som måste göras, hur det ska göras och vad som redan görs för life science-sektorn i Sverige. Det märktes att de verkligen lyssnar och ser life science som en viktig näringsgren för Sverige.
Mötet initierades efter att Sweden Bio, Lif och Swedish Medtech skickat ett brev till utbildnings-, näringslivs- och socialdepartementen och bjudit in till diskussion om den satsning som Storbritanniens premiärminister David Camerons gjort på life science.
I brevet skriver ni att det inte skulle fungera att anta satsningen som helhet då vården organiseras olika i Sverige och Storbritannien, vad i satsningen fokuserar ni mest på?
- Vi har många konkreta förslag på vad vi kan anamma från Camerons satsning. Allt ifrån att satsa på att förbättra grundforskningen till att öppna upp för att läkemedel och medicinteknik kan testas i kliniska prövningar tidigare i landstingen. Det vi tog upp gick i enlighet med de förslag vi skickat in till utbildningsdepartementet inför nästa forskningsproposition.
Hade departementen några invändningar mot förslagen?
- Nej, de hade inga direkta invändningar annat att de pekade på att flera av de förslag som Cameron fört fram redan genomförs i Sverige. Dock förstod de vikten av att vara tydlig med de satsningar som görs och kommunicera detta så som Storbritannien gjort.
Hur kommer det sig att diskussionen uppstod just nu?
- Nu är det ett ypperligt tillfälle att föra fram dessa idéer då beredningarna och förberedelserna inför både nästa budgetproposition och framförallt den kommande forskningspropositionen är igång. Och även om det ekonomiska läget är kärvt i dagsläget kan man komma ganska långt genom att göra strukturella förändringar.
Vad blir nästa steg?
- Nu ska vi i branschorganisationerna få ner alla förslag som vi kom fram till i går på papper och lämna in till departementen. De kommer sedan att sammankalla till ett nytt möte under våren så fortsätter vi diskussionen då. De konkreta förslag vi kommer fram till då kan då hinna med att formaliseras i forskningspropositionen som kommer i höst.
